Two suspects were arrested in Cuenca after allegedly attempting to carry out a fraud using scopolamine in the 9 de Octubre market area.

The individuals are accused of approaching a victim under the pretense of asking for help reading an address written on a piece of paper. Authorities believe this tactic was intended to expose the person to a substance and impair their judgment.

According to preliminary information, the suspects then told the victim they had a winning lottery ticket and demanded the person’s belongings in exchange for the supposed prize.
