Road improvement work in the parish of Turi, in Cuenca canton, was completed as part of a coordinated effort between multiple levels of government aimed at strengthening local infrastructure.
The project focused on 1.5 kilometers of roadway connecting the Corazón de Jesús and Cinco Esquinas neighborhoods. It was carried out through two contracts, with a total investment exceeding $696,000, funded jointly by the Turi Parish Council, the Municipality of Cuenca, and the Azuay Provincial Government.
In addition to this work, a separate investment of approximately $270,000 was used to construct 10 kilometers of ditches and curbs along the road linking the Cuenca–Azogues highway to Punta Corral.
The completed project included several key improvements:
- Road rehabilitation and paving
- Installation of subbase and base layers
- Soil cement stabilization
- Application of asphalt
- Construction of culverts, drainage ditches, and curbs
The upgrades are intended to improve mobility, support local economic activity, and enhance access for both residents and visitors in the area.
Local authorities emphasized that the project was made possible through collaboration between institutions, combining resources and coordination to complete the work.
Residents were also encouraged to help maintain the infrastructure by keeping drainage areas clear, which will help extend the lifespan of the road.
