Authorities in Cuenca have located a house containing the vehicle and weapons believed to have been used in the fatal shooting of a man on Avenida de las Américas.

The operation, carried out on April 3 by National Police intelligence units, led officers to a property where they found the suspected getaway vehicle along with a cache of weapons and equipment. According to police officials, the items discovered inside included two rifles, two pistols, six grenades, and clothing resembling National Police uniforms.

Authorities emphasized that while the uniforms appeared authentic, they do not belong to the institution, suggesting they were used to impersonate officers during the attack.

The raid followed the killing of José Carlos GZ, who was shot on the afternoon of April 2 shortly after purchasing a vehicle from a used car lot. Investigators say he was intercepted by a pickup truck, and several individuals dressed in police-style jackets opened fire.

Police say no arrests have been made so far, as the house was empty when officers arrived. Specialized units were called in to safely handle and detonate the explosives found at the scene.

Investigators continue to process evidence and pursue leads connected to the case. Authorities have also confirmed that the vehicle the victim had just purchased had previously been linked to a drug-related case in another province.

The discovery of weapons, explosives, and fake police gear points to a highly organized operation, as officials work to determine the motive and identify those responsible for the killing.
