Authorities in Cuenca have arrested a man known as “Marciano,” identified as Marlón JBA, during a targeted police operation linked to ongoing criminal investigations.

The arrest was carried out by the National Police of Ecuador as part of Operational Strategy 3D, an initiative focused on locating individuals with outstanding warrants and ties to criminal activity.

According to investigators, the suspect was wanted in connection with a violent incident in the city. Authorities also allege that he had been working as a lookout in support of illicit operations, indicating a broader role within local criminal activity.

During the operation, officers located and detained the suspect at his residence.

Police reported the seizure of several items during the search, including

  • a 9mm firearm
  • one magazine
  • 16 rounds of ammunition
  • a mobile phone

Officials said the weapon was loaded at the time of the arrest, underscoring the potential risk posed by the suspect.

Authorities confirmed that the individual has five prior court cases related to robbery, classifying him as a repeat offender.

Following the arrest, he was transferred to judicial authorities, where he will face the corresponding legal process.
