A man was seriously injured in a stabbing early Monday in the Barrial Blanco neighborhood of Cuenca.
The attack occurred around 7:00 a.m. at the intersection of Tomás Ordóñez and Alberto Muñoz Vernaza streets. The victim, identified as Leonardo Santiago Q., suffered a deep wound near his groin and was treated at the scene before being taken to Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital.

Emergency crews also assisted a second individual, José Luis Z., who sustained a laceration above his right eyebrow. He was transported to the same hospital and is reported to be stable.
Police officers responded to the scene and began investigating the circumstances of the attack. Residents in the area reported ongoing concerns about safety, citing the presence of suspicious individuals and frequent altercations.
Later in the day, authorities confirmed the arrest of a suspect believed to be responsible for the stabbing. The individual remains in custody as the investigation continues.
