Nearby Chordeleg is celebrating 34 years as a canton. Events include the election of a queen on April 11, followed by a parade through the main streets and an official ceremony in José María Vargas Square on April 15.

In Sígsig, which marks 162 years of cantonization, festivities span more than a week. Highlights include a queen election on April 11, a formal session on April 16, and a parade and traditional “Cholita” contest on April 19.

Meanwhile, Azogues is commemorating 201 years as a canton. Celebrations include the selection of “Azogueñita” on April 11, a student parade on April 15, and an official ceremony at the Guillermo Domínguez Tapia Theater on April 16.
