Cuenca is celebrating its 469th anniversary on Sunday, April 12, with a full calendar of events spread throughout April 2026, featuring parades, fairs, exhibitions, and concerts across the city.

The Municipality has organized activities aimed at residents and visitors alike, continuing to position Cuenca as a leading destination in southern Ecuador known for its culture, architecture, and gastronomy.

During the most recent Easter holiday, the city welcomed 40,436 visitors, generating USD 10.5 million in revenue and reaching a hotel occupancy rate of 63.01%.

This year’s anniversary celebration is more modest than the November independence festivities and does not include large international concerts. The Municipality has allocated approximately USD 30,000, with events supported through self-management.
