A package sent from Cuenca to the United States was intercepted after cocaine was discovered hidden inside food items at a courier service near Mariscal La Mar Airport.

The shipment, which originated in Pasaje, contained approximately 1,300 grams of the drug concealed in everyday products, including a can of preserved grains, a can of onions, chocolate wrappers, and a container of oatmeal.

Additional items in the package included tuna, coconut cookies, saltine crackers, plantain chips, toasted bread, snack bags, and meringues.

The parcel was addressed to a woman identified as Johanna C. and was intended for a recipient identified as Guillermo R. in New Jersey.

Anti-narcotics agents seized the shipment and carried out a field test, which confirmed the substance as cocaine. The package has been secured and placed under chain of custody as the investigation continues.

Authorities regularly monitor courier services as part of ongoing efforts to detect illegal substances being transported through these channels.
