Ecuador’s weather forecast for Monday, May 11, points to cloudy conditions and rain of varying intensity across much of the country, with thunderstorms expected in parts of the Amazon region.
Forecasters expect wet conditions in areas of the Coast, Highlands, and Galápagos, while much of the Amazon could see showers accompanied by electrical storms. Solar radiation levels are expected to range from low to moderate in several regions.
Residents are being encouraged to carry umbrellas or rain gear and use waterproof footwear due to the likelihood of rainfall throughout the day.
On the Coast, cloudy skies and light rain are expected in cities including Esmeraldas, Santo Domingo, Quevedo, Guayaquil, and Santa Rosa. Temperatures are forecast to range from 22°C to 33°C, with very high UV radiation levels despite the cloud cover.
In the Highlands, cities such as Tulcán, Ibarra, Quito, Latacunga, Ambato, Riobamba, Guaranda, Cuenca, and Loja are expected to experience cloudy to very cloudy skies with rain throughout the day. Temperatures could range from 8.5°C to 22.5°C. UV radiation levels are expected to remain high.
The Amazon region is forecast to see cloudy skies, rain, and thunderstorms in Nueva Loja, El Coca, Tena, Shell Mera, Macas, Gualaquiza, and Zamora. Temperatures are expected between 18.5°C and 28.5°C, with low to moderate UV radiation.
In the Galápagos Islands, cloudy conditions and drizzle are expected in Isabela, San Cristóbal, and Santa Cruz. Temperatures are forecast between 24.5°C and 30°C, while UV radiation levels could reach high to very high levels.
