One person was injured early Monday in a three-vehicle collision on the Southern Ring Road near the entrance to Carmen de Guzho, in the Cuenca–Azogues lane.

The crash occurred around 7:00 a.m. when a white Chevrolet struck another vehicle from behind, pushing it into a truck carrying iron rods. Some of the metal rods broke loose and pierced the windshield of one of the cars, injuring an occupant inside.

Paramedics from the Cuenca Fire Department treated the injured person at the scene.

Traffic in the area was affected for roughly an hour while crews managed the scene and cleared the vehicles. The Municipal Mobility Company of Cuenca took control of traffic and the removal process.

Drivers were reminded to maintain safe distances to reduce the risk of collisions. A minimum following distance of three meters is recommended in urban areas, along with at least 1.5 meters of lateral space, especially when passing cyclists, motorcyclists, or carts.
