Cuenca is set to welcome one of its largest new commercial developments in recent years, as Mall del Alto prepares for its official inauguration on May 21, 2026.
The opening ceremony is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., with invited guests arriving earlier in the evening. The project, developed by GO Corp. through Inmobiliaria Piedra Huasi, will then open to the general public the following day, May 22, at 10:00 a.m.
Located along the Southern Ring Road on the Cuenca–Azogues highway, the new mall represents a significant expansion of the city’s retail and entertainment infrastructure. Authorities and business leaders are expected to attend the official launch event.
The development carries an estimated investment of $100 million and spans approximately 110,000 square meters across five levels. It will feature around 140 retail stores and 80 kiosks, offering a mix of national and international brands.
Beyond shopping, the complex is designed as a multi-use destination. Plans include restaurants, financial services, a gym, and a wide range of entertainment options such as movie theaters, bowling, electric go-karts, and family play areas.
One of the project’s key features is its integration with the existing Mall del Río via an elevated pedestrian walkway. This connection is intended to create a larger commercial corridor, linking two major retail hubs and expanding the city’s shopping district.
Developers say the project is aimed not only at retail growth but also at creating a social and recreational space for residents and visitors.
With its scale and location, Mall del Alto is expected to reshape part of Cuenca’s commercial landscape, potentially drawing increased traffic to the area while offering new options for shopping, dining, and entertainment.
