A taxi driver has died following a late-night traffic incident on Avenida de las Américas in southern Cuenca, in a case that remains under investigation due to conflicting initial reports.
The accident occurred on Saturday, April 18, at the intersection with Calle Cebrián de Moreta. Early information suggested a hit-and-run, but later findings pointed to a collision involving two drivers.
Video footage from the area shows the taxi driver stepping in front of a private vehicle moments before being struck. He was left injured on the roadway.

Emergency teams responded to the scene, including personnel from the Cuenca Mobility Company and the Traffic Accident Investigation Service of the National Police.
The driver was taken to Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital, where he remained in critical condition. He died early Sunday morning, April 19, at around 6:00 a.m.
The victim has been identified as Sergio Rolando P., 61.
Authorities have not issued a final statement as the investigation continues.
