An elderly woman was safely rescued after becoming lost in a mountainous area of Chaucha, on the outskirts of Cuenca, following a coordinated search operation late Friday night.
The woman had been reported missing in the San Gabriel sector, a rural area known for its difficult terrain. Emergency crews launched a search effort that involved personnel from the Cuenca Fire Department, National Police, and local residents.
After several hours, search teams located the woman in a hard-to-reach area of the mountains. She was then brought to safety and given initial assistance while arrangements were made for further medical evaluation.
Authorities said the rescue was completed without major complications and highlighted the importance of coordination between emergency services and the local community.
Officials noted that community participation played a key role in helping locate the woman quickly, allowing the situation to be resolved before it escalated into a more serious emergency.
